A Guide to Edibles Dosing

Eating edibles is one of the most popular methods of consuming THC among users. They do, however, often bring a lot of questions from users who aren’t very familiar with them. Most of these questions are related to how strong they are and how many a person should take. While edibles can be highly enjoyable, users must also be very careful with them, as improperly dosing could result in some very unpleasant effects. The chart below should be helpful for those who are uncertain of how much they should consume.

This chart is not universal. It is important to recognize that every individual is different in their response to THC edibles. For example, someone could be a new user, but naturally have a very high THC tolerance, and vice versa. The important thing with edibles is to start at a low dose and increase gradually when you are trying a new amount.

Biggest Dosing Mistake to Avoid

A common mistake a cannabis user will make with edibles is they will consume at a certain dose, and 45 minutes to an hour later they don’t feel anything, so they decide to take more. Then, two hours later, both doses will hit them at once and they will experience unpleasant effects. It is important to be patient and not re-dose when you don’t feel anything yet.

What to Do if You Do Take Too Strong of a Dose

It is a common occurrence to take too strong of an edible dose and receive unpleasant effects. If this does happen to you, the most important thing is to stay calm. Remain in a safe and familiar environment and just reassure yourself that this will soon pass, and everything will be okay. Hydration is extremely important as well to keep your body feeling healthy. Other calming practices such as meditation can also be effective in lowering your heart rate and relaxing your mind.
